Rob's love affair with music began during his South London upbringing, immersed in Electro, Hip Hop, and UK Soul. His early fascination with DJing evolved from a hobby of mixing records to refine his craft as a scratch DJ, experimenting with innovative tape edits and basic equipment. His early productions, created using a Commodore 64 and Tascam 4-track, demonstrated a unique ability to merge Chicago and Detroit sounds with London’s emerging breakbeat and hardcore scene, paving the way for his involvement in pirate radio stations such as Energy 87.9 FM, Storm FM, Don FM, and Dream FM. These early experiences positioned Rob as a player in the Drum & Bass scene, where he released material under the alias Blinded by Science on Basement Records and founded his own Online Recordings imprint with then production partner Dave Ivy. By 1995, the expansion of his home studio into Online Studios in London enabled Rob to work with a wide array of artists, including Tippa Irie, Cedric Myton, Marc Almond, So Solid, UK Apache, and Sway. His production prowess earned him a co-writing and production credit on a UK chart-topping single, selling over 250,000 records. In the same year of 1999, he launched his Evasive Records imprint, which would become synonymous with cutting-edge underground House and Tech House, eventually releasing over 30 sought-after vinyl records over a number of years. More recently Evasive is enjoying a resurgence with Rob licensing his material to Nicola Cruz’s album as part of the hallowed Fabric compilation series and more particularly with Subwax (Barcelona) repressing Rob's Tech House back catalogue from the early Noughties and making new vinyl copies of these classics available on 12” wax once again.
As a DJ spinning underground House and Techno, Rob's record bag is well travelled and he's performed in many parts of the world including the United States (Miami WMC), Europe (ADE Amsterdam, Barcelona, Prague, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovakia, Germany) as well as all over the UK, with regular London gigs in pretty much every venue of note. Expertly covering the ground from deep, dark and tripped out House to groovy Techno and everything in between. Whether headlining or supporting, his sets are always eagerly anticipated. Rob's music been remixed by an array of top flight artists worldwide, including The Timewriter, Demarkus Lewis, Inland Knights, PaperMachetTiger and Alexi Delano. Rob has also been a regular guest on London’s biggest dance music radio station, Kiss 100 and continues to play slots on various DAB, FM, and internet radio stations worldwide. Rob has also collaborated with the legendary vocalist Robert Owens and plans to work further with other musicians and artists for upcoming tracks. After three decades of studio production work Rob is now working on his own solo material for various labels as well as ongoing collaborations with production partner Paul Donton (Bombis Records) whilst pushing his unique sound through DJ gigs Worldwide. If the true test of any DJ, producer, and label owner is support from their peers, music buyers and packed out dance floors, then Rob Pearson has proved time and time again that he excels at every aspect remaining a powerful force in the evolution of underground electronic music.
